Project Overview

Since summer 2021, Dhrupad and choral singer Aana Yogini and multi-instrumentalist, sound engineer, and autodidact Willy Strehler have been developing an original body of Techno-Trance music based on sacred wisdom texts in Sanskrit, Pali, Latin, Japanese, and other liturgical languages.

Drawing inspiration from ancient sources such as the Heart Sutra, Gayatri Mantra, and Ave Maria, Aana composes works rooted in the depth and microtonal precision of Dhrupad music. Together, Aana and Willy transform these compositions into electro-acoustic soundscapes.

The result is a tradition-based yet innovative electroacoustic music that touches the listener at a profound level. The aim is trance — a heightened state of awareness that strengthens inner connection and allows for a renewed encounter with central spiritual texts.

Aana’s focus lies in melody, vocal architecture, and arrangement.
Willy’s focus lies in beat-making, sound design, and production.

Through intensive dialogue and iterative collaboration, they have found a shared sonic language:

Not simple techno.
Not superficial mantra music.
But complex, groove-driven, extended works that lead listeners and musicians alike into trance.

OM SHANTI final version

A Sanskrit stotra in honor of Saraswati, goddess of music.
The piece opens with a muezzin-like call that moves through the entire composition like an awakening signal, culminating in the final invocation: Om Shanti — “May there be peace.”

A recitation of the Buddhist mantra Om Tare Tuttare Ture Svaha, honoring Tara, the goddess of wisdom and compassion, who helps overcome obstacles on the path to liberation.

NAM MYOHO RENGE KYO

NAM MYOHO final version

The central mantra of the Lotus Sutra, recited in Japanese.
The practice is said to awaken the Buddha nature within and expresses the Bodhisattva vow to support all beings until liberation is complete.
