Song DIALOGUE (beyond music Vol. 3)

with Aana Sharma (Vocals, Tanpura), Raushan Orazbayeva (Qyl Qobyz, Kazakhstan) and Senhora do O (virtual instruments, Portugal)

dialogue song mp3

The voice and the Qyl Qobyz are dancing with eachother: it’s a dialogue. Between the Qyl and the voice – symbolizing also the dialogue between the inner & the outer world, merging the human being with the universe. There is no lyrics. It is about the pure sound…

Choral Opera CYCLE (beyond music Vol. 3)

with Aana Sharma (Vocals, recitation, Tanpura, CH), Willy Strehler (Vocals, electronic effects, CH) and Naoyuki Manabe (Sho/japanese flute, Japan)

CYCLE mp3

Humans are rolling in the cycle of rebirth. Stucking in this very world. Never reaching a point of satisfaction. It is an un-cozy painful situation. Suffering! This opra is sacral interreligious music, which is expressing the struggle to come out of this cycle. A slightly threatening space, a non-easy beauty.

Alaap Part 1
Alaap Part 2

Here Aana is performing in her beloved Waterchurch. A church in the river Limmat in Zürich. She is singing the first part of a traditional Dhrupad performance: Alaap. This part is very slow, opposite to the later fast and rhythmical parts. The Raag, the musical or tonal system, is shown note by note, microtonal precise, in resonance to the Tanpura, the accompany drone instrument. There are no words but so called Nomtom-Syllables.

Bandish „Pyare Guruji” (composed in 2019)

in Hindi, set by Aana in Raag Adana and Tivrataal, accompanied by Pakavaji Hrydeesh, teached in Bhopal

Text:

Dearest Guruji, from you we learnt how to listen, how to sing and more than 50 Raga. We learnt about Shrutis, melodies and rhythms. You showed the world the universe of Dhrupad in a very sublime and subtle way.

You are gone now – alone! – we are so sad. What happened is done now… Is this all an illusion? Please take our greetings on your way, our hearts are full of thanksfulness! Dearest Guruji, we salute you respectfully, A….
